Oliver Jeffers

Do you ever pass up an opportunity because you think you are too busy/tired/stressed/broke ?

Today I am very grateful to my friend Sarah whose phone call at the last minute meant that I was able to meet Children's book illustrator and author Oliver Jeffers. We dashed to our lovely local book shop and had our purchases signed. Oliver kindly wrote a birthday message to my husband and drew him a little duck! He was very friendly despite having been signing books for hours (and I have met other authors who were distinctly grumpy!).

I expect most of us have read and loved his books. Isn't it nice to know the writers are the nice people you imagine them to be?

Happy weekend, love nick xx

  3. How cool! It's nice to hear that he's nice, I imagined he would be. If that makes sense. We are BIG fans of his books in this house, many a happy bedtime has involved reading one of his picture books. x

  4. This is so timely for me. We are huge fans in this house and this week we got 'Paper Caper' from the library for the first time which has led to lots of discussion about why the Boy and the Penguin do not feature more prominently in it! So glad he is lovely and you cam away with a souvenir.

  10. We have two of his books tucked up on a bookshelf in KP's bedroom. She used to love them. So nice that the author turns out to be nice too.
