Bits

I didn't get much done today, Maisy was poorly and stayed home from school. She seemed a bit brighter this afternoon and had some tea and biscuits and did a bit of colouring while I made some brooches.

I am trying to get everything sorted for my shop but I keep procrastinating. I think it is because I am nervous. Once it is actually open then I will know for sure if anyone out there wants to buy anything and that is scary. Too scary to think about for long!

Next I cut the grass and then it was time to collect Soren from school. Another day avoiding what I should really be doing!

Celebration

It has been a lovely weekend full of treats and happy times!

I finished the cake and Soren was really happy that two of his favourite Ugly dolls were on top. Even though it isn't his birthday until thursday, we took the cake to the restaurant where we celebrated with our family. It was one of those places where they play silly music and clap and sing as they bring your cake to the table. Daft but fun!

Morten turned 3 and Soren made a special shortbread and added candles and flags. We bought him presents and cards because we are silly and because we love our dog so much :)

It is also Fathers Day and Maisy and Soren gave Jamie his favourite chocolates. He is addicted to Reeces! My Dad got Mix CD and some chocolate from me. Happy Father's Day Dad!

We also have a new addition to the family....Reg the hamster. ( I don't think I have ever mentioned that we already have a dwarf hamster called Geoff!)

Yellow Hands

Icing Ugly Dolls complete!
I had to make my own yellow icing so now I have yellow palms. Oh well! My boy is worth it :)

Tomorrow I need to make the cake. 9 year old boy? Chocolate of course!

Trapped!

Sunny again today and time to inspect the garden!

The Sweet Peas have become quite tall and needed tying up. Morten found this fascinating. He jumped in and was trapped. I only just managed to squeeze him between the canes and free him. Hopefully he might have learned his lesson now!

Our sunflowers and courgette plants have been attacked by slugs! I heard on the radio that sprinkling oats around the plants helps to stop them. Supposedly the slugs love the oats but it kills them. Then if birds eat the slugs, the oats won't harm them. I don't like to use pesticides so I hope this works. I will keep you informed! I also noticed that Soren has added some plastic giraffes to my hanging basket and I have decided they can stay :)

Two of the staff at Maisy and Soren's school will be retiring this summer, so I have been preparing books which will contain drawings and memories from the children they teach. I hope they will like them!

As well as Morten's 3rd birthday, we are going out for Soren's 9th birthday on Sunday. We will be taking a cake to the restaurant and tomorrow I shall be attempting to make these Ugly Dolls out of icing... Wish me luck!

Busy Day

Today has gone fast and I have achieved quite a bit for once!

First of all Maisy had to get ready for her trip to a World War 2 air raid shelter. She had to dress as an Evacuee. Sometimes I just have to make a costume with bits of clothes we already have. Fortunately Maisy is nearly as tall as me now so she fits some of my clothes!

It was dry so Morten sunbathed and we went for a walk. When we got home we found this little heart shaped petal on our door mat.

I also finished my biscuit skiing print and quickly made some bunting to use in the photographs for my shop. (saving the bunting for Morten's birthday on Sunday!)

This afternoon I messed about for ages and finally got a banner to fit across the top of my Etsy page. It's not the best but my patience was wearing very thin! I can't say I am enjoying the Etsy setting up process but that is mainly because I dislike all things technical! Any advice or tips would be greatly received! :)

School work!

As it was the first day back to school today, I needed to finish the summer entrance hall display.

4 times a year we change the display to correspond with the seasons.

I used one of my many biscuit photocopies for the ants to feast on!

Food

Last night we had friends over for dinner. I love to get out my pretty tea light holders and try to make everywhere feel welcoming.
I used some really tasty tomatoes for the first course and made tangy lemon trifles and a pecan pie.

Maisy had tidied her room and lined up all her Russian dolls. They look so cute (and slightly scary)!

Morten is now completely recovered and also enjoying his food!
